Indoor positioning
What comes after the GPS Boom? - Indoor positioning, tracking and navigation
In the outdoor positioning, the GNSS positioning (GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, among others) has largely prevailed. Always modern and accurate chip enabling greater precision and reliability even under adverse ambient conditions. Within enclosed buildings, subway stations, tunnels or mines satellite navigation encounters but their physical limits. Here the new indoor localization ssysteme the Solconia provide a solution.
Advantages
Directional antennas or array antennas offer the possibility of locating zone tagged objects. Once located, the associated passive transponder in the reception area (zone) of the antennas or array, the known position may be associated with the vehicle, the goods carrier or a person. In the truck tracking using ground transponder the principle works exactly the opposite: As soon as the truck passes over a ground transponder with certain item ID with its underbody antenna, its position is known (chessboard principle).
The BLE or WLAN positioning is based on the field strength measurement (RSSI) between the active mobile transponders (may be Device in Mobile) and stationary, distributed in buildings, halls or shopping malls WLAN access points or BLE beacon. The location accuracy of about 5m is dependent primarily on the density of the arrangement of APs and beacons. One speaks therefore in these location technologies also more of a zone detection, as from an exact positioning.
For certain localization and indoor navigation tasks, such as the use of forklift trucks, scanners, tools and eLabel in logistics and in warehouse management is i.d.R. a nationwide Exactly locating in the range of & lt; 1m demanded. This location accuracy can be achieved in particular in alternating metallic environments with the radio propagation time measurement in the UWB range. The locating objects are thereby equipped with active transponders, which send their signals to the access points in range. Then, on the locator server evaluating the distance-based run-time differences and resultantly the permanent position calculation with high update rate.
For selecting the right indoor positioning solution, please send us the following information:
- to be localized, the number and characteristics of mobile objects
- the size and nature of the sites (site plans, photos)
- workflow incl. the desired location accuracy (coverage / meter accuracy or zone- or hall exactly)
- the presence of communication (WiFi, cellular, etc.)
- the desired or existing software technical connection to front end systems (control system, order or inventory management, asset management, MES, ERP, etc.)
