The term locating several methods for determining the position of mobile objects are grouped. Basis is usually a distance measurement by means of signals from the object to be located at known reference node (sky satellites at GNSS or anchor transponders in indoor positioning) or sent vice versa. The distance evaluation is carried out either on the basis of field strength or the radio propagation time measurement. Fixes are opposed to locate active process and should not therefore be confused.
